Vision Pro 2 allegedly in production
Apple is said to have already discontinued production of the first Vision Pro. It now looks as though the second generation will follow.

Apple is apparently about to start production of the second generation of the Vision Pro. At least that's what a portal from China claims. According to sources in the Apple supply chain, central components such as the mainboard, display panels and housing are already being prepared for mass production, as ITHome writes. However, the portal itself is referring to reports.
Will the Vision Pro remain a luxury item?
The Vision Pro was first launched on the US market in February 2024, followed by internationalization in the summer with sales launch in Germany and elsewhere. Since winter, there have been repeated rumors that production of the current model has been discontinued, as Apple has sufficient quantities in stock. The basic problem: although the headset was rated as technically good to very good, with entry-level prices starting at 4000 euros, which Apple has still not lowered, the purchase hurdle is high.
The Vision Pro 2 is expected to be cheaper – but it is unclear how much. Alternatively, it is also conceivable that Apple could improve the hardware – with a faster M4 SoC –, for example, but not change the price. If this were the case, however, the company would have to ask itself how sensible this strategy is for a luxury product. In addition to internal improvements, a slightly improved design could also be on the cards, according to the rumor mill. The Vision Pro is still quite heavy and also requires you to carry around a battery pack on a cable.

Inspiration for other headsets
Interestingly, several companies have nevertheless been inspired by Apple's not exactly popular design, including Samsung and the Chinese company Vivo. Google's Android XR operating system also borrows from the Vision Pro operating system visionOS. The reason seems to be that Apple's form factor allows for very powerful headsets, although this is much less practical to use than devices with a built-in battery such as the Meta Quest 3.
ITHome writes that the Vision Pro 2 is expected to be delivered this year. Analysts such as Ming-Chi Kuo and Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman had predicted dates between fall 2025 and spring 2026.
