Case leak: iPhone 17 Pro with large camera "bump"?
Apple is changing the look of its rear camera on the next Pro iPhones. The company is probably taking inspiration from Android devices.

For several years now, iPhones have had a square camera on the back of the Pro models, which carries a total of three image sensors. In the Android world, the camera design is much more varied, from a circular module to a block that extends over almost the entire housing. The iPhone 17 Pro is likely to use the latter idea. Following the first render leaks, covers have now also appeared in Asia that speak in favor of the new design.
A large hole on the back
The leaker Sonny Dickson shows them on X and writes that the new camera hole, which has to be stamped into plastic sleeves, is “huge”. Apple's new design is “sure to make people look around for it”. The idea seems to be to place the module directly above the MagSafe ring. It had previously become known that Apple is probably planning to match the color of the module tone-on-tone with the housing – and not to contrast it with another color, such as black.

What the new design will bring – apart from the fact that the 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will be easier to recognize – is unclear. The plan is probably to move the image sensors to the left and the LIDAR, microphone and flash components to the right. For new buyers, utilizing the full width of the back of the case would also be interesting because it would prevent the iPhone from wobbling when placed on a table. As simple as it is, it feels more comfortable.
Leakers and cases, cases and leakers
Dickson does not specify where his case leak comes from. Sometimes, however, Apple and the case manufacturers cross-fertilize each other: a rumour makes the rounds and sounds realistic – and the suppliers start to adapt their cases to it. Whether this was the case in this instance has not yet been leaked. The cases shown by Dickson are made of plastic and are transparent – just like Apple's own Clear Cases.
This year, Apple is set to launch two Pro models, its first Air with a particularly thin casing and a standard iPhone. Above all, the Pro devices will have an improved interior and apparently 8K video recording.
