Plausible 3.0.0 is here: The free Google Analytics alternative adds a team function with the release. This makes it easier to manage different users, for example by inviting them together. Previously, users had to be added individually. If desired, individual users can be added to several monitored pages at the same time.
Furthermore, several owners (role owner) can now be assigned to a page so that important monitoring functions of a page are not lost when a person is on vacation, for example. Users can switch directly between their teams in the menu; the personally assigned pages also remain in place and can be called up on the corresponding overview page. In the teams there are the roles Viewer, Editor, Admin, Billing and Owner.
Scroll depth is new, time on page has been improved
Version 3.0.0 also includes new metrics that Plausible can monitor. Among other things, the scroll depth can now be recorded: The dashboard now shows how far visitors have read a page as a percentage. The function is automatically activated for all monitored pages and does not need to be set up manually. Users can now also set targets for the scroll depth: Once defined as a percentage, the software shows how many visitors to a page have progressed to the desired scroll depth.
The developers have also completely revised the monitoring of time spent on the page (time on page). Before the update, Plausible calculated the data as the time difference between the entry and exit of a visitor on the monitored page. Now, however, the time on page is based on engagement signals: So the software only shows the time that visitors have actively spent on the page. However, if they leave the monitored page open in the background, this is no longer counted as time on page.
Users can now also view the time spent on the page in more detail in order to view the development of the metric. Furthermore, pages can now be sorted according to their time on page performance, for example to identify unpopular content. If you want to view information from before the update to version 3.0.0, you will automatically receive the time-on-page data recorded using the older method –, so it will not be lost.

Finally, users can now save segments in order to reuse them later. This is how it works: Plausible stores the activated filters as a group together with a name to be entered as a separate filter in the menu. It can be called up either as a personal or team filter. However, the latter requires a business license. Once saved, segments can be edited via a separate submenu; filters in the group can be Plausible 3.0.0 is here: The free Google Analytics alternative adds teams, among other things, with the release.users can also remove or add new ones at any time. If desired, Plausible can also store modified segments as new segments in the system.
EU alternatives in high demand
These are just the most important changes in version 3.0.0. Plausible lists all new and removed functions in the release notes on GitHub. As free software, Plausible is licensed under AGPLv3. The developers offer a commercial cloud version for companies, but the software can also be operated free of charge. According to its own statements, the demand for European alternatives to services from US providers such as Google Analytics has increased, particularly in 2025 –, with many operators already planning to switch in light of the GDPR controversies surrounding GA.
