In the paid version of Gemini Live, Google gave its AI chatbot eyes: Using the camera and screen sharing, it is possible to talk to the AI about the content and have things explained to you. The function is now available free of charge for all users with an Android device.
The AI-supported Gemini function was only introduced at the beginning of April for users of a Google Pixel 9 and Samsung Galaxy S25. As part of the announcement, Google said the feature would be available to all Android users “soon”. The catch: The new function previously required a Gemini Advanced subscription, which costs 22 euros per month.
However, the company has changed its mind and is now making the function available free of charge. Google explains the opening on X with positive user feedback: “We've received great feedback on Gemini Live with camera and screen sharing, so we've decided to make it available to more people.”

Gemini Live feature to land on all Android devices
The company also writes that Gemini Live screen sharing will be available on all Android devices in the coming weeks. The exclusivity for Pixel 9 and Galaxy S25 will thus come to an early end.
The Gemini Live function is part of Google's Project Astra. The smart AI assistant can not only see and interact more naturally with users. It will not only be used on smartphones, but also in VR and AR glasses.

Competitors in the AI race, OpenAI and Microsoft, offer similar solutions. ChatGPT's Advanced Voice Mode has the same range of functions. Microsoft's Copilot Vision is much more limited in comparison and only works in the Edge browser from the same company.
