Apple hardware leak on X: First parts of a "Vision Air" surfaced?
A collector of Apple prototypes claims to have uncovered a power cable from a new Vision Pro model. Will the "Vision Air" be lighter and easier to handle?

In addition to its high price of currently just under 4000 euros, users of the Vision Pro are particularly annoyed by its form factor: the headset is too big and too heavy, and you never know where to put the external battery. A second model should bring improvements here. A collector of Apple prototype technology has now published details including images of a power cable – and calls the product "Vision Air". The truth of the leak remains unclear – The information provided at least sounds quite realistic, although it would be unusual for there to be such an early leak from the supply chain.
Dark and with a new battery connector
As @Kosutami_Ito further writes, the new color is said to be a "graphite-like dark blue", which Apple may call "Midnight Black". Internal structures of the device use titanium to reduce the weight, but the housing is still said to be aluminum, just with the new surface. Several published images show the bayonet connection of the connection cable for the battery on the side of the "Vision Air" as well as the – proprietary plug, which can be removed with a little force – and is attached to the battery itself.
While the bayonet connection looks similar to the current – except for the new color of the housing and a black, braided cable –, there is a change in the connector on the battery side: it has eight pins instead of the current twelve. Apple may have redesigned the battery and (hopefully) made it smaller, but is sticking with the concept of outsourcing the battery. (Interestingly, the competition from Samsung is now also planning to do this.) Despite the pin reduction, the connector is supposedly "wider" and slightly shorter.

Vision Pro 2 plus "Vision Air"?
There is currently talk in the rumor mill that a second Vision Pro with M5 SoC could be released in autumn 2025 or spring 2026. It remains unclear whether the "Vision Air" is a second product that will be marketed in parallel with a "Vision Pro 2".
Furthermore, It is conceivable that Apple will leave the current Vision Pro on the market and launch an Air model in parallel. As there has only been one generation of the Vision Pro to date, the sales strategy for successor models is not yet certain. However, demand for the Vision Pro is said to be limited due to the price. Production has reportedly already been scaled back.
