Virtual workspace for brainstorming
Changes to the workspace are at the heart of Firefly Image Model 4. Compared to other image generators, the service still lacks an overview of previously generated images. Adobe has released a beta version of the “Boards” workspace for brainstorming. Generated images can be arranged, grouped and aligned on a free area.
In the control panel for the prompt, users can select the model used via a drop-down menu as before. In addition to Firefly Image 2 and 3, the 4 and 4 Ultra variants are now also available there.
Below the entries for Adobe technology, the menu also shows other AI models. The Firefly service now integrates image generators from third-party providers such as OpenAI GPT, Google Imagen 3 and Flux from Black Forest Labs in Freiburg im Breisgau. Further image generators from Luma, Pika and Runway are to follow.
AI for Adobe Express, Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
Artificial intelligence is also set to influence workflows in Photoshop in the future. According to Adobe, AI agents will make suggestions in Photoshop's revised Actions panel based on the individual style. The agents will offer a series of multi-stage edits.
Details such as clothing, hair or facial features can be selected in AI-generated images. Hue, saturation and luminance should be easy to change.
The design tool for social media, Adobe Express will receive tools for animation and video. “Clip Maker” converts long videos into shorter ones for social media. “Dynamic Animation” animates images.
Users of the Illustrator drawing program can use the AI tools “Generative Shape Fill” and “Text to Pattern” to fill vector graphics with patterns. The typesetting program InDesign converts PDF files into editable documents.
Prices and credits
Firefly Image 4 and the associated updates for other Adobe apps are available immediately. Adobe Creative Cloud subscribers receive 1000 credits per month to generate images.
