"13T": Oneplus packs huge battery into 6.3-inch smartphone

Smartphones are considered to be almost "fully developed". The Oneplus 13T, which the manufacturer initially presented for the Chinese market, shows that there are still minor innovations – at least in terms of the battery.

Oneplus 13T with a larger battery than the "13"

At 150 × 71.7 × 8.15 mm and weighing 185 grams, the Oneplus 13T is more compact and lighter than Google's new Pixel 9a, which measures 15.5 × 7.3 × 9 mm and weighs 186 grams. Nevertheless, the Chinese manufacturer's smartphone has a larger battery of over 1,000 mAh. More than two days of battery life should be possible with the 13T.

It is curious that even the larger Oneplus 13, which would have more space with its 6.8-inch display, has a smaller battery (6,000 mAh) than the 13T. Unlike the Oneplus 13, however, the "T" model lacks wireless charging. In addition, the wired charging power is 80 watts instead of 100 watts, which the 13 supports.

The processor of the 13T is on a par with the "big" Oneplus 13. With the Snapdragon 8 Elite, the manufacturer has also installed a fully-fledged high-end processor in the more compact model. The SoC (system-on-a-chip) is accompanied by at least 12 GB of LPDDR5X and 256 GB of UFS 4.0 memory. The manufacturer also offers variants with 16 GB RAM and 512 GB up to 1 TB flash memory for an additional charge.

In other equipment aspects, Oneplus positions the 13T below the company's own top model: it only has a wide-angle camera accompanied by a 2x telephoto zoom camera with 50 MP each, while the Oneplus 13 has an additional ultra-wide-angle camera. The manufacturer has also dispensed with the Hasselblad cooperation in the T model. The manufacturer has skimped on the protection class: The 13T only has IP65, while the Oneplus 13 is protected to IP69.

A bit like the iPhone: multifunction button instead of alert slider

Oneplus has also replaced the classic alert slider on its 13T, which has given way to a multifunction button. The new button is somewhat similar to Apple's action button, which can also be used for muting, but it can also be assigned other functions and quick accesses – such as opening the camera, switching on the flashlight or other things.

In China, the manufacturer is offering the Oneplus 13T at a price of just under 4,000 yuan, which is equivalent to around 480 euros. If it is offered in Europe, it will certainly be more expensive than the conversion price, as various taxes will be added on top. A look at the prices of the Oneplus 13 in China (4,999 yuan - 600 euros) and Germany (999 euros) could provide a rough price range. We are guessing a euro price above 700 euros.
