CMF Phone 2 Pro: Nothing fixes the biggest weakness of its predecessor
The CMF Phone 2 Pro closes the NFC gap of its predecessor and retains the option of screwing on accessories.

The CMF Phone 1 was a surprise success in the entry-level segment. The smartphone with screw-on accessories and a replaceable back is now being relaunched. The manufacturer is focusing on the two biggest points of criticism: Camera and wireless module.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro has, at least for the European market, the NFC module that its predecessor lacked. This means it is also suitable for contactless payment, which is now widespread. Nothing has only slightly improved the protection against the elements; IP52 on the CMF Phone 1 has become IP54 on the Phone 2 Pro.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro, which at 7.8 millimetres thick and 185 grams in weight is the lightest and thinnest Nothing smartphone to date, is equipped with the Mediatek Dimensity 7300, a proven mid-range chip. It has access to 8 GB of RAM. The OLED panel measures 6.77 inches and achieves a maximum brightness of 3000 cd/m² according to the manufacturer. The OLED display supports a maximum refresh rate of 120 hertz. An optical fingerprint sensor is embedded in the display.
There is more space for a camera on the back of the smartphone than on its predecessor. The main camera and dual telephoto have 50-megapixel sensors, while the new ultra-wide-angle camera shoots with a maximum of 8 megapixels. A 16-megapixel front camera is responsible for selfies.
The battery of the Phone 2 Pro has a capacity of 5000 mAh and charges via cable with 33 watts, but not wirelessly. The smartphone offers space for two Nano.SIM cards and supports memory expansion via MicroSD up to 2 TByte. Nothing delivers the CMF Phone 2 Pro with Android 15 and the Nothing OS 3.2 interface. Security updates will be available for six years, and the manufacturer also promises three new Android versions.

The manufacturer has also retained the accessory concept. The back of the CMF Phone 2 Pro can be easily removed and replaced by loosening a few screws. Too bad: Although it would be so easy to get to the inside of the smartphone, the battery cannot be easily replaced. Another screw-on point on the corner of the smartphone holds a lanyard if required. New are interchangeable screw-on lenses for the camera. The wallet for credit cards, which docks onto the back of the Phone 2 Pro, can now be folded and used as a stand.
The CMF Phone 2 Pro with 128 GB of internal memory costs 249 euros at launch. For a comparatively small surcharge of 30 euros, Nothing doubles the internal memory.

New accessories and in-ear headphones
Nothing has also already announced prices for the accessories. The screw-on lanyard costs 25 euros, and the interchangeable back cover called Universal Cover is also available for the same price. This is needed to attach the interchangeable camera lenses (35 euros) or the wallet with stand function (35 euros). The cover, lens, and wallet cost 60 euros as a bundle.
In addition to the CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing is also presenting three in-ear headphones. Like the first generation of CMF in-ears, they all have a rotary wheel on the charging case that turns it into a remote control. The CMF Buds 2 cost 50 euros, the CMF Buds 2 Plus with Hi-Res LDAC and adjustable equalizer 60 euros. The CMF Buds 2a are intended for beginners at a price of 40 euros.
