"We are contacting you about your Cowboy model C4 ST (Edition MR)" – The Belgian e-bike manufacturer is currently writing to its customers with these words and informing them in the email that there have been deviations in the production of the frame. In the worst case, this could lead to frame breakage.

As the company explains, fatigue cracks could occur in the weld seam between the head tube and down tube after a mileage of around 2500 km. The manufacturer warns that in "rare cases" [...] "it could lead to structural failure of the frame and pose a risk of injury".

Cowboy promises to replace all C4 ST (Edition MR) frames over the course of the year. The company is initially prioritizing the replacement of bikes that have already exceeded a mileage of 2500 km, as the risk of frame breakage is increasing.
The manufacturer advises owners of the model not to use it until then. "A sudden frame breakage and serious injuries can occur," the manufacturer expressly warns. However, Cowboy is not offering a temporary solution for those affected who should no longer use their bike for the time being.
Owners will be notified as soon as the electric bike is eligible for replacement. Optionally, e-bike owners can use a form to check for themselves whether the frame of their e-bike needs to be replaced. The serial number must be entered in the form, which those affected can find in the Cowboy app under "Settings" – "Advanced".

Cowboy also clarifies that only the frame will be replaced and that the replacement is free of charge. The new frame is then covered by a two-year warranty.
