Honor 400 Pro: New smartphone with 200-megapixel camera

Honor presents its 400 series. It consists of three models and covers a wide price range. The top model in the series, the Honor 400 Pro, is positioned just below the luxury class and comes with exciting features.

The OLED screen of the Honor 400 Pro is 6.7 inches in size and displays, 2800 × 1280 pixels. This gives the display a pixel density of 460 ppi, which is easily sufficient for a sharp display of even small text. Honor promises a maximum brightness of 5000 cd/m², a very high value. An optical fingerprint sensor is embedded in the display. Two front cameras look out of an elongated cut-out at the top edge: a 50-megapixel selfie camera accompanies a 2-MP ultra-wide-angle camera.

Honor uses the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 as the processor. The chip is already a year and a half old, but is still easily up to all tasks. It is supported by 12 GB of RAM. The internal memory is 512 GB without the option to expand.

There are three cameras on the back of the smartphone: a main camera with a 200 megapixel sensor, a triple telephoto camera with 50 megapixels and an ultra-wide-angle camera that delivers 12 megapixel images. A whole host of AI features are designed to support image creation and editing. This allows images in videos to be enhanced, unwanted content to be removed, image areas to be expanded and more. The AI Super Zoom is designed to provide more detail in the image if you go beyond the optical magnification. At best, the full sensor resolution of the main camera of 200 megapixels is used for this.

Honor delivers the smartphone with Android 15 and its own MagicOS 9 interface.

As with the Honor Magic7 Pro, the European 400 Pro also has a weaker battery than the Chinese version. The difference is quite steep: 5300 instead of 6000 mAh. The reason for this is the local transportation guidelines. To be able to install a larger battery, it would have to be divided into two cells, according to the manufacturer when asked. Charging is possible with up to 100 watts via the USB-C cable, while the 400 Pro supports up to 50 watts wirelessly.

Honor 400 and 400 Lite as cheaper alternatives

In addition to the 400 Pro, Honor is also launching the 400 and 400 Lite. The Honor 400 has a slightly smaller, but equally bright and high-resolution 6.55-inch display, a Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 and only 8 GB of RAM. Its battery has the same capacity as that of the 400 Pro, but Honor has omitted the telephoto camera here. The third model, the 400 Lite, is again equipped with a 6.7-inch display. It features a weaker Mediatek Dimensity 7025 Ultra with access to 8 GB of RAM. The smartphone's main camera has a maximum resolution of 108 megapixels and a 5-megapixel ultra-wide angle. At 5230 mAh, the battery of the Honor 400 Lite is only slightly weaker than that of the two more powerful models.

The Honor 400 Pro is available with 512 GB at a price of 799 euros. At 499 (256 GByte) and 549 euros (512 GByte), the Honor 400 is a little cheaper; the 400 Lite with 256 GByte costs 299 euros. The three smartphones are available to order now.
