Oneplus Pad 3: Thin Android tablet with fast chip
OnePlus has announced its new OnePlus Pad 3 with Qualcomm's most powerful processor and a larger display, but also at a higher price.

With the OnePlus Pad 3, the manufacturer seems to want to offer an Android-based alternative to the iPad Air. The tablet has a powerful processor and is thinner than the Air without compromising on the battery. It also costs from 600 euros, which is far less than Apple's model.
Fast chip and large battery
OnePlus' new tablet has Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor, which is installed in many high-end Android smartphones such as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, Xiaomi 15 Ultra and OnePlus 13. The system-on-a-chip (SoC) is supported by 12 GB LPDDR5x or a faster 16 GB LPDDR5T RAM and 256 or 512 GB (UFS 4.0) storage space.

Compared to its predecessor, the Pad 2, OnePlus has gone one better with the display: Instead of a diagonal of 12 inches, the Pad 3 has a 13.2-inch screen – similar to the iPad Air. The built-in IPS panel in 7:5 format has a resolution of 3,392 × 2,400 pixels and a high frame rate of 144 hertz.
According to the manufacturer, the touch sampling rate of 540 Hertz is intended to reduce input latency, while the screen brightness of up to 900 nits should also be suitable for recognizing content in bright daylight. The standard brightness of the tablet is 600 nits.
Due to the larger display and probably also the larger battery – 12,140 instead of 9,510 mAh – the new model weighs 675 g and is around 90 g heavier than its predecessor, which weighed 584 g. However, at 5.97 mm, the Pad 3 is noticeably thinner than the Pad 2 (6.49 mm) and also slimmer than Apple's 13-inch iPad Air, which is 6.1 mm thick but a little lighter at 617 g.
The charging power of the new Pad 3 is 80 watts, which should fully charge the large battery in just over an hour. There are also 8 integrated speakers, Bluetooth 5.4, Wi-Fi 7 and a USB-C port (USB3.2 Gen1, 5Gbps). There is a 13 MP camera on the back and an 8 MP camera on the front for video calls and selfies.
Android 15 ex works and 3 years of Android updates
It is powered by the latest OxygenOS version, based on Android 15. The software features multitasking, which has been optimized by Oneplus, and an improved split-screen mode as well as drag & drop support.

Owners of OnePlus smartphones also benefit from direct data sharing between their OnePlus devices, smarter synchronization of notifications and a hotspot function that allows the tablet to use the smartphone's connection. However, the devices should only be paired when the tablet needs a hotspot, which should save the smartphone's battery life.

The update guarantee leaves a little to be desired, as OnePlus only promises three major Android versions, but six years of security patches. At least the update frenzy will soon come to an end. From June 20, manufacturers in the EU are obliged to provide software updates for five years.

As an option, the manufacturer offers an updated keyboard housing that can be tilted between 110 and 165 degrees. OnePlus also offers the “Stylo 2” stylus and a folio case.
The OnePlus Pad 3 is now available for pre-order, with delivery dates varying depending on the country. The model with 12 GB RAM costs just under 600 euros, while the manufacturer charges 700 euros for the model with 16 GB RAM. The Smart Keyboard costs 200 euros and the Stylo 2 100 euros.
