New details on the iPhone foldable: production to start soon?
The well-known analyst Ming-Chi Kuo dares to make new predictions about Apple's first foldable: Then it will be produced and then delivered.

When will Apple's first foldable device, which the company is already preparing for in terms of software, finally arrive? According to the latest information from the usually well-informed Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo from TF International Securities, it won't be much longer – although probably longer than many users hope. According to the information, production will start soon, at least in preparation, but delivery will still take until 2026.
Premium product in the pipeline
As Kuo writes in a report to investors, Apple's manufacturer Foxconn is expected to launch the project “officially in the late third quarter of 2025” or in the early fourth quarter of this year. However, Apple has apparently not yet finalized the component specification, which allegedly includes the all-important folding hinge. The latter is reportedly currently causing surprise in the supplier market.

After all, Apple is said to have finalized the selection of the display supplier, including the specification. Samsung Display (SDC) will initially supply seven to eight million panels. However, this will not be the full capacity, as the foldable will probably only be produced for a few months in 2026, with the main production starting in 2027. Apple is reportedly planning to order a total of 15 to 20 million devices, Kuo has also heard. Apple apparently does not expect the – device to be aimed at the mass market due to its expected high price of (at least) over €2,000 –. After the start of mass production in the second half of 2026, the company will deliver “several million units in both 2027 and 2028”.
No crease
It remains unclear whether everything will turn out as Kuo predicts. He himself stated that the plans could still change as long as Apple has not declared an “official project kick-off”. However, this is likely to happen in the short term. Apple has been working on a foldable for years. Allegedly, there are also plans for a MacBook or an iPad with an even larger screen.
Apple is reportedly particularly proud of its special design: the hinge is said to be particularly durable and lightweight at the same time. In addition, the screen allegedly lacks the typical “crease” of Foldables or is almost imperceptible.
