Rumors about upcoming iPhones: With and without camera perforation?
Fresh iPhone leaks have led to speculation about exactly what the iPhone 18 and 19 will look like. There are also new details about the 17 Air.

The iPhone 17 has not yet been released, but the rumor mill already has details of the 18 and 19 variants for 2026 and 2027 up its sleeve. Apple seems to be planning to move towards a completely camera-less iPhone in several stages. The “all-screen” device is expected as a big birthday iPhone for the fall of 2027, when the smartphone series will have been on the market for 20 years.
Dynamic Island shrinks, birthday model cameraless
Bloomberg claims that Dynamic Island will shrink in the iPhone 18 next year and then disappear completely with the iPhone 19 – at least for the birthday model in question. The idea is to first banish the Face ID facial recognition sensor under the display and then later the camera. Similar attempts have been made in the Android world for years. An iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max would then presumably have the face recognition sensor under the display, but not the camera, which would remain as a small hole in the corner.

The iPhone 18 Pro is still expected to have higher resolutions. Digital Chat Station, a Weibo account, claims that Apple will increase the iPhone 18 Pro Max to 2860 x 1310 pixels. This leaker also believes in a “punch hole” camera for the iPhone 18 Pro.
iPhone 17: “Air” image and faster Qi
The iPhone 17 (planned for September) is known to have a particularly thin “Air” model: There are now closer indications of this in iOS 26 in the form of background images with a suitable resolution. The iPhone 17 could also support Qi 2.2 for the first time. This would enable a maximum charging power of 50 watts. Apple has already obtained the necessary certification for this in Taiwan. The company is planning a new charging puck for this, so you would have to buy new accessories if you want to charge wirelessly in this way.
It is still unclear whether there will also be an 18 and 19 version of the Air. This is generally expected, as the Air is replacing the Plus model. It is conceivable that Apple will launch five iPhones in September 2027 – if not more: birthday model, Air, standard iPhone, iPhone 19 Pro and 19 Pro Max. Added to this is the fact that the first foldables are also on the way, possibly as early as 2026.
