Pixelmator Pro: More AI functions after Apple acquisition
Version 3.7 of the popular image editor Pixelmator Pro now has access to Apple Intelligence functions. Some of them are a little questionable.

The newly founded Apple subsidiary Pixelmator from Vilnius has released a major update for the macOS version of its image editing software. Pixelmator Pro version 3.7 adds a range of Apple Intelligence functions to the software that have been available in the operating system for some time. Now they can be used directly in the creative app.
Images and text from Apple Intelligence
Under macOS 15 alias Sequoia, Apple's image generator Image Playground, which allows the creation of illustrations on prompt input, is integrated directly into Pixelmator Pro. This allows you to pass image layers directly to Playground – via the “Add to Playground” function. Generated images – as usual, may only be animations, illustrations or drawings – then end up in a separate layer or replace an existing one if desired. Templates can also use Image Playground content and fill placeholder images with AI.

Apple's writing tools, the Writing Tools, are now also part of Pixelmator Pro 3.7. According to Apple, existing texts can be corrected, summarized and rewritten in different styles. As hardly any users use Pixelmator Pro to write longer texts, the question arises whether it makes sense – but at least text logos or other content can be processed quickly.
An additional function is “Create with ChatGPT” to “create original text content from scratch based on a short prompt or description”, as Apple writes. The writing tools are accessible via the context menu when hovering over texts.
New RAW import, better accessibility
Pixelmator Pro 3.7 also comes with a new RAW import for OM-1-Mark-II cameras from OM-SYSTEM, the VoiceOver voice output should work better (including tool options) and the sidebar shows the function of the individual icons in a clearer font.
Pixelmator Pro 3.7 is distributed via Apple's Mac App Store. The license is available for just under 60 euros. The app runs from macOS 12, Apple Intelligence as mentioned only from macOS 15.
