Wild rumor: iPhone 17 Pro with customizable color?
According to information from China, Apple is considering a special model for the iPhone 17 Pro. The look is reportedly based on Apple's new Liquid Glass design.

It has already been leaked that this year's iPhone models will come in several new colors, including an orange-like copper tone. Now a rumor is doing the rounds in China that goes even further: Apple is allegedly planning to implement a “special color” that is visually based on Apple's new iOS 26 look, Liquid Glass. The information comes from the well-known leaker Instant Digital, which has 1.84 million fans on its Chinese X counterpart Weibo.
Rainbow effect like car paint?
He or she writes that the iPhone 17 Pro (and presumably 17 Pro Max) comes in a “special color scheme” that is “related to the iOS 26 Liquid Glass design”. According to this, the basic color will be white, but the housing will show “different effects in different light”. However, he himself had only heard about this and had not yet seen the color himself.

If there is any truth to the rumor, Apple could implement a shimmering, glass-like casing look for the first time on an iPhone. This is possible with certain metal finishes or paintwork that refract light differently. This is reminiscent of special car paints that are prismatic and generate an oily rainbow effect. For the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, there has also been speculation about a matte coating in the style of Apple's well-known nano texture, which has so far only been used in MacBook Pro models and the iPad Pro (plus desktop displays).
Color speculation from orange to white
In the past, Instant Digital has been right about a new shade of yellow for the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, as well as a new titanium bracelet in Milanaise style for the Apple Watch Ultra. However, the leaker has also been wrong before.
Previously, it was said that Apple would use the aforementioned copper-orange, a dark blue, plus black and gray for the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. There will also be a shade of white. It remains to be seen whether this will really be as different as rumored from China. The devices will probably be presented at the beginning of September. Six different colors are reportedly planned for the iPhone 17 and four colors for the particularly thin iPhone 17 Air.
