iPhone 17: Apple is probably planning a slight price increase
It is a given that Apple smartphones will become more expensive this year. The first figures have now been leaked.
Different iPhone models: Apple actually always keeps the price of smartphones stable in its home market of the USA. With the current tariffs, this is apparently no longer possible.

How much more expensive will the iPhone 17, 17 Pro, 17 Pro Max, and the 17 Air be? It has been known since spring that Apple seems to be planning a general price increase for its smartphones. Now there is an initial estimate of how much this could turn out to be: According to a note to investors from investment company Jefferies, Apple will apparently be comparatively mild in its price hikes.
Upward price poker
As analyst Edison Lee reports, Apple will increase the price of the 17 Air (which Lee calls “Slim”), 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max models by at least 50 US dollars, but there are also rumors that all model series will be affected. In the USA, this would mean that the entry-level iPhone 17 would then cost 849 dollars instead of the current 799 dollars.

The iPhone 17 Pro Max would start at 1249 dollars instead of 1199 dollars (excluding sales tax). However, it is not yet known what price Apple will set for the 17 Air, as it has no direct predecessor – The current 16 Plus model, which is likely to replace the particularly thin device, is sold from 899 dollars. Jefferies currently rates Apple shares as “hold”, but not “buy”. In the second quarter, Apple is said to have achieved growth of up to 22% in the USA via mobile phone providers (Apple publishes its quarterly figures this Thursday).
Component costs and customs duties
The reason for the price increases is that Apple has to compensate for “rising component costs” plus the tariffs on Chinese goods imposed under the Trump administration. Apple had relocated large production capacities to India, but there is a threat of punitive tariffs here too, as the USA wants Apple to bring the iPhone “back home,” even though it has never been produced there. Apple reportedly wants to make sure in its marketing that the price increase is not linked to tariffs.
It is not yet clear what price changes will take place in Europe. Apple generally charges more money in this country, despite the fall in the dollar exchange rate. The low-cost iPhone 16 currently costs 949 euros without a contract, while the Pro models start at 1199 euros. The maximum you can leave with Apple for a fully equipped iPhone 16 Pro Max (1 TByte) is 1949 euros. The new iPhones in the 17 series are expected in September.
