Developers want to test Liquid Glass: iOS 26 beta apparently very popular
Apple's remodeled new design seems to be of interest to iPhone developers. CEO Tim Cook provided information on the current beta test.

Quite controversial, but also interesting: Apple's rebuilt basic design in iOS 26 and Co. is apparently meeting with great demand from registered Apple developers, at least as far as trying it out is concerned. As CEO Tim Cook told analysts on Thursday evening when announcing the latest quarterly figures, many developers wanted to test the developer beta that has been available since June.
"Great momentum"
It is "wonderful to see" how "great momentum is developing for our platforms", said Cook. According to him, the iOS 26 pre-release version is "by far the most popular developer beta we've ever had". This also applies to iPadOS 26 and macOS 26, which have also been downloaded very often. However, Cook did not provide specific installation figures, nor did the CEO comment on the public beta of the new operating systems, which has only been available since last week.

However, it can be assumed that this will also be met with great interest, as the redesign of iOS and co. has not gone this far for years. However, it is best to have an additional device ready for the beta and not test it with an everyday iPhone (or everyday iPad). After all, the beta still contains bugs and the changes to the UI and operation could potentially be frightening. On the Mac, it is a good idea to try out macOS 26 in a virtual machine. This is particularly easy and free of charge with Virtual Buddy.
Developer beta free since last year
However, it should be noted that Apple only lifted the requirement to be a paying developer in order to download betas two years ago. Previously, you had to pay Apple almost 100 US dollars a year. As a result, it is now much easier to get hold of developer betas, which has certainly increased the target group. All you need to do is register with your Apple account on the developer website and accept Apple's terms and conditions.
iOS 26, macOS 26 and the other new operating systems are expected to be released in September. visionOS 26 for the Vision Pro cannot currently be tested outside of the developer beta. Apple is likely to keep it that way.
