iPhone 17 Pro: info on special color and large camera back
Apple's new Pro iPhones come with major changes this year. These are not just in the design.

In just over six weeks' time, Apple will unveil its new iPhone models. Recently, there have been more and more rumors about the camera on the Pro models of the iPhone 17, the suspected price increase and the design of the casing. Now we have more information about the possible color scheme and the design of the camera back – and why the latter is likely to look different than before.
Colorful, colorful, iPhone 17 Pro?
It is already known that the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max will be available in a new, orange-like copper color. Leakers have now received the first dummy models from China that are supposed to reflect the new look. If these are true to reality, the design would be much more striking than previously expected. Sonny Dickson, a well-known Apple rumor cook for years, comments that the new orange is "definitely a bold addition". The other colors for the Pro models, black, white and a dark shade of blue, are much more subdued.

However, Dickson knows nothing about a special iridescent finish that Apple is supposedly planning in addition and which is supposed to make reference to Liquid Glass. The other colors are all quite restrained. On the thin iPhone 17 Air, the dummies show pastel shades of light blue, "steel gray", white (almost eggshell) and black; on the iPhone 17, they are a little bolder with additional purple (to pink) and green. If you use your iPhone in a case, which is recommended to avoid accidental drops, you may rarely see the look.

There is also fresh speculation about the camera area on the Pro models taking up the entire width of the case. Macrumors claims that this decision is not only due to design aspects, but also has to do with a new zoom image sensor. In future, it will be possible to zoom in up to eight times, instead of the previous five times. Sensor cropping will allegedly not be used.
Different focal lengths are also allegedly planned, instead of just the fixed 120 mm from the iPhone 16 Pro. To implement this, Apple allegedly needs more space, although the sensors in the previous dummy models are still arranged in the same way as in the iPhone 16 Pro. Only the LIDAR and flash have been moved to the right. But Apple may be stuffing some of the electronics into the middle area. The first teardowns will have to show whether this is really the case when the devices are available. This can be expected by mid-September.
