Anyone looking for an unusual dock for Apple's smallest desktop computer, the Mac mini M4, can currently take a look at a Kickstarter project. The Wokyis Retro Docking Station, which has already reached its funding target, looks like a classic Macintosh from the 1980s and holds the computer itself in the lower section. Above it is a 5-inch display that is powered directly by the Mac mini. It can show a background image or be used for widgets, for example.

The docking station comes as standard with the aforementioned display, which shows a maximum of 1280 Ă— 720 pixels (IPS panel), has an audio connection (3.5 mm), HDMI input, card reader (SD and microSD up to UHS-II) and seven USB ports (four USB-A, two USB-C plus host connection). An internal SSD slot (M.2) can be equipped with up to 8 TByte. The weight is just under half a kilo.
The idea of putting the Mac mini M4 in a fun case is by no means new. There are several variants that make the device look like a scaled-down Mac Pro from Apple. Prices start from just 50 euros plus shipping, and there are also various instructions in the maker scene for printing the case yourself.

Delivery planned from October 2025
As is usually the case with Kickstarter projects, there may be delays or other problems during production. However, the creators of Wokyis have already supplied some YouTubers and influencers with the functional hardware – so it already exists.
According to the manufacturer, the delivery date (from Hong Kong) is October 2025, at least for the first batch. A version with 10 Gbps fast USB ports costs 109 US dollars plus delivery, an 80 Gbps variant costs 209 dollars. (The retail price will later be 169 and 389 dollars respectively.) The latter also has the most ports (14), comes with DisplayPort 2.1 and faster transfers for the optional M.2 SSD. The Kickstarter project is still running for 25 days and currently has less than 1000 backers. Both Mac mini M4 and M4 Pro can be used.
