AirPods Pro 3: This is what Apple's next ANC earbuds should be able to do
The rumor mill assumes that it won't be long until the next generation of the popular Apple in-ears. These are the details.

Apple's second-generation AirPods Pro, the latest version of which will be on the market for two years in September with a USB-C connection, continue to deliver solid sales, according to market researchers. Nevertheless, the iPhone manufacturer will soon follow up with a third series, if the latest information from the rumor mill is to be believed. It is therefore conceivable that the AirPods Pro 3 will be presented together with new Apple smartphones in just under a month.
ANC and health
The expected new features include a newly improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), as a leaker on X had already predicted last year. Apple is also likely to install a new generation of the H2 audio chip. Design adjustments to both the housing and the earbuds themselves are also expected, although there are no more detailed statements or even mockups on this so far.

In terms of health sensors, the AirPods do not yet have any hardware on board; only Apple's sub-brand Beats is offering heart rate measurement for the first time with the Powerbeats Pro 2 sports earbuds. This could also end up in the AirPods Pro 3, as well as, at least according to speculation, body temperature measurement. To date, various Apple Watch models have been able to measure body temperature, but only changes in a “baseline” are measured here, not detailed temperature values.
Apple is updating its models
Apple also tends to update older AirPods models regularly with new firmware. In the future, AirPods and Beats models can be switched off automatically when sleep is detected. AirPods can be operated by nodding and shaking your head, and Apple has turned the earbuds into a listening aid. With iOS 26 and the like, the AirPods will also be able to be used as a remote camera shutter release. For the AirPods Pro 3, a live translation function might be conceivable via a later software update.
Meanwhile, new models of the regular AirPods are unlikely to be released this year. Apple only launched generation 4 of these onto the market last September. Anyone waiting for new AirPods Max will probably also be disappointed. Apple has left these almost unchanged since their launch in 2020, only adding a USB-C port (including USB-C audio and lossless) last year.
