Add-on in aluminum: Two Thunderbolt 5 SSDs for Mac Studio and Mac mini M4
Beelink, known for its PC replicas of the Mac mini, has introduced new SSD docks for two desktop Macs – with interesting specifications.

The Chinese IT manufacturer Beelink is primarily known for its production of PC-based Mac mini clones. However, the company also uses this acquired expertise to manufacture accessory products for Apple users. This now includes two new SSD-based products that can significantly expand the storage space of Mac mini M4 and Mac Studio M4 Max and M3 Ultra.
Two SSDs and dock for the Mac mini M4
The Beelink Mate mini is a combination of dock and SSD enclosure. The system can be controlled (on the Mac mini M4 Pro) with up to 80 Gbps via Thunderbolt 5 and includes two slots for M.2 SSDs (2280) including PCIe connection (up to 5.0). This means that up to 16 TByte can be installed. The dock comes with 2.5 Gbps Ethernet, audio connection (3.5 mm), SD 4.0 card reader, and USB A 3.0 ports.

The price is 139 US dollars (direct purchase plus shipping). A second model of the Beelink Mate mini comes with only one SSD slot but is said to be “speed-oriented” and offer higher throughput. The price is the same. The device can be operated both above and below the Mac mini M4, air gets through in both cases. An additional USB-C PowerDelivery port can be used to power energy-hungry SSDs.
Mac Studio M4 Max and M3 Ultra with more space
The Beelink Mate Studio is a variant of the system for Apple's small professional desktop Mac Studio with M4 Ultra or M3 Max. At a price of 129 dollars (plus shipping), however, there are no additional ports here, only the memory expansion via two SSD slots. M.2 modules are also supported here, and up to 16 TByte are included. Here, too, there is an additional port for a power supply (if more than 15 watts are required, this makes sense).

Both Beelink expansions are currently available for pre-order, but delivery will still take a few months. The aluminum used is said to be of a similar quality to the original, so aesthetically, the hardware does not stand out from an Apple setup. The M.2 modules have to be purchased separately, although Beelink also offers complete packages with Crucial SSDs for the Mate mini.
