USA: Amazon app supports return codes in the Apple Wallet

If you want to hand in returns from Amazon to DHL & Co, you normally need a QR code. This will be easier to store on iPhones in the future.

Returning products purchased from Amazon is now effortless: often, the e-commerce giant provides users with a QR code that can be used to simply hand in the returned goods at a DHL, UPS, Hermes or DPD branch (or corresponding packing stations) without having to print anything out. Smaller products don't even need to be repackaged, as these are provided by the shipping store. One annoying problem, however, is where to place the QR code. Although it can always be found in the Amazon app on the cell phone, it can only be accessed there with a series of clicks. Users therefore regularly simply take a screenshot, as this is quicker via the respective photo library – or save it in the Files app. In the USA, this is now even easier for iPhone users: the official Amazon app now supports return codes in Apple's Wallet.

As the Apple blog 9to5Mac reports, since a recent update, the application now offers the option of either downloading and/or displaying the return code as usual, editing the return or placing it directly in Apple's card collection point when creating product returns.

It can then be accessed immediately by double-clicking on the side button when visiting the drop-off point. A small but nice function that makes everyday life a little easier for frequent Amazon shoppers. It can be assumed that the feature will also be released in other markets of the e-commerce group in the near future.

Meanwhile, Apple is working on another improvement for online shopping with iPhones in connection with iOS 26. Thanks to a new function in Apple Wallet, it will soon be possible to track shipments directly in Apple Wallet, even if the provider has not yet explicitly provided for this. Companies can already integrate this – in combination with Apple Pay payments. However, comparatively few companies have so far taken part in purchase tracking via Apple Wallet.

"Apple Wallet can now recognize and summarize order data from emails from retailers or delivery services. This works for all of a user's orders, so they can see all order details, status messages and more in one place", writes Apple. It is currently unclear whether the feature will also be active in Germany. iOS 26 will be released in September.
