Tot 2.0: Small text editor for the Mac menu bar gets an update
The Iconfactory has upgraded its small Mac text collection site Tot. Version 2.0 has various new features and also runs on iPhone and Watch.

The well-known developer Iconfactory has introduced a new version of its mini editor Tot (meaning "toddler" in English). The app comes in version 2.0 for Mac, iPhone, and Apple Watch and is used to quickly capture notes in a total of seven designated "dots", i.e., documents. Thanks to iCloud synchronization, you should always have important information on all devices.
Small but significant changes
Version 2.0 comes with the usual colorful design, but has a number of new features. These include new text dividers, i.e., lines between sections to separate content more clearly, new "Smart Bullets" for lists that users can configure themselves and add shortcuts to. Also, new are automatic indents that adjust the content if the window is too small. The indents can also be used in text-only mode, which Tot supports as an alternative (e.g., for Markdown).

Iconfactory has also integrated a number of bug fixes and usability improvements. On the Mac, the app also opens in its own window if desired (default), but the most convenient way is still to place it in the menu bar. The color of the currently active dot can also be displayed there. In the Mac version, however, we noticed that the search results were sometimes quite dark – The Iconfactory team has already been made aware of this bug.
Tot 2.0 on the Mac for the first time for a fee
Tot was previously only available for a fee on iOS. Version 2.0 changes this on the Mac: if you want new features such as the adjustable text divider or the smart bullet options, you have to unlock the app for just under 20 euros (in-app purchase). The purchase of the iOS version is not transferable to the Mac, as it is not a universal app. All functions from Tot 1.0 remain free on macOS.
The iOS version of Pocket also costs just under 20 euros and can be upgraded free of charge from the premium version 1.0. Standard functions are also free of charge there. The Apple Watch version of Tot costs just under 2 euros. Among other things, it has a modern UI and a new "+" button for quickly adding new texts, including a menu button ("...") for additional settings. Anyone who has registered Tot 1.0 on their watch can also upgrade free of charge.
