The innovations that Apple could present at the "Awe Dropping" keynote on September 9 include new iPhones and computer watches, as well as new third-generation AirPods Pro. New information on possible hardware redesigns is now coming from Asia. This concerns the charging case, i.e., the charging cover for the ANC earbuds.
Touch surface for operation
Leaker "Majin Bu", who has already been correct in the past and recently spread genuine-looking information about Apple's new case strategy, speaks of a "new design" in a post from this week. While earlier rumors that Apple would reduce the case size more are allegedly not true, the button is probably being saved: As with the AirPods 4, the case will now use a touch area.
This is reportedly not only used for pairing, but also for control options such as volume adjustment and music playback on the charging case, which would be a novelty. Support for lanyards, including matching punched holes, will be retained. The earplugs themselves should hardly change visually.

Health sensors and, above all, better ANC
The expected new functions include further improved Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Apple is also likely to install a new generation of the H2 audio chip. The AirPods do not currently have any health sensors on board, although Apple's sub-brand Beats is the first to offer heart rate measurement in its Powerbeats Pro 2 sports earbuds. This could also end up in the AirPods Pro 3 – and, at least according to speculation, a body temperature measurement.
While the heart rate shows a real value, the body temperature could only show deviations. This is already the case with the Apple Watch. Apple recently overhauled its regular AirPods. The AirPods 4 are available with ANC for the first time, albeit only as an option and for an additional charge. In contrast to the Pro, these are not in-ear models; the earplugs rest in the ear and can therefore fall out more easily, which does not work well with every ear shape.
