New case leak: "Clear Case" for the iPhone 17 Pro with a different design
Apple is continuing to work on its lucrative iPhone cases. Now another model has been leaked: the clear plastic version, which looks completely different.

In addition to the new "TechWoven" cases for the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max, Apple is also planning to redesign its popular Clear Case. This is reported by Majin Bu, a leaker who is apparently well connected in Asia when it comes to case designs. The case, which currently costs 59 euros for iPhone 16 models, will be redesigned so that only parts of the case are transparent. The new feature is a milky white area on the back, where Apple has placed the MagSafe hardware – including the large Apple logo in gray. The purpose of this new look is unclear. Currently, the Clear Case is completely transparent except for the MagSafe circle including the "stem".
Camera control and lanyard connection
Another striking feature is the large cut-out area for the camera module. This extends across the entire width of the housing. As usual, it is surrounded by a lip so that the actual camera optics cannot hit the ground in the event of an accidental drop. Apple has also built a way to operate the camera controls into the Clear Case for iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max. It is not clear from the images published by Majin Bu whether this has simply been left free or has its switch, but it looks like the latter.

The Clear Case is also compatible with Apple's new lanyard, which is probably called the "Crossbody Strap". The necessary holes are left open on the underside of the case (on both sides). The lanyard, which will most likely be worn around the neck, is apparently held magnetically – How exactly this is done has not yet been leaked. According to Majin Bu, Apple has also tested colored versions of the Clear Case, which could later appear as "Limited Seasonal Editions". Apple uses a material for the plastic that does not yellow easily. This was also the case with earlier Clear Case variants. There is a special coating for this.
Good business with iPhone cases
However, Apple does not appear to have solved standard-case problems such as susceptibility to fingerprints and a tendency to scratch. However, the large white surface means that both are less noticeable.
iPhone cases are of great economic importance to Apple: the company earns a lot of money with accessories thanks to high margins. It was therefore all the worse that the "TechWoven" predecessor, FineWoven, had serious material problems. It has now been almost completely withdrawn from the market. The iPhone 17 models will be presented next Tuesday.
