At IFA: Numerous iPhone 17 cases, including from major manufacturers
Producers of iPhone accessories often find out what new models look like surprisingly early on. This year's Consumer Electronics Show is a good example of this.

While Apple is still keeping the iPhone 17 family a big secret, this year's International Consumer Electronics Fair (IFA) in Berlin, which is coming to an end this week, is full of accessory providers who are ready for the new smartphones—and are advertising this amazingly aggressively. Even well-known brands are among them, advertising with photos of dummy models at their stands as if all the details of the new devices were already officially known. They are obviously very certain about what Apple will present at the "Awe dropping" keynote on Tuesday (September 9).
Major manufacturers with iPhone 17 accessories
A walk around the exhibition grounds reveals suppliers such as Nomad, Decoded, and ESR, who have cases for the iPhone 17, 17 Air, 17 Pro, and 17 Pro Max on offer and are presenting corresponding mock-ups. This is surprising, as one would normally expect such preliminary products from smaller manufacturers. Other major accessory brands such as Dbrand have already sent out newsletters about their iPhone 17 products in the last few days (“Sorry, Tim”) and/or are even already selling the cases with delivery in September.
But how is it that the suppliers are so sure of themselves and the countless case leaks are also considered credible in the Apple scene? Because it's actually the same game every year, producers of iPhone cases often seem to be the first to know what the devices will look like. This is because the companies usually have good contacts in Apple's supply chain. Even if Apple tries to stop such outflows (for which money is also supposed to flow), information is still leaked time and again.

Possibly a very expensive bet
Of course, it is also possible that case manufacturers are wrong. This year, for example, the new form factor of the iPhone 17 Air would have led us to expect Apple to prevent leaks. However, the industry seems to be largely in agreement and is presenting (thin) cases that are largely the same.

)Given the pre-production phase that accessory suppliers need to get to market on time with the new iPhones, it can be assumed that they are right—or it would be a (very) expensive bet. But we won't know whether this is really true until after the keynote.
