Better iPhone support in visionOS 26
Until now, anyone using the iPhone and Vision Pro at the same time had to remove the headset. visionOS 26 fixes the problem.

Until now, the iPhone and Vision Pro have only harmonised to a limited extent. As it was not possible to use facial recognition when using the headset, you always had to enter the unlock PIN. What's more, this was only possible if you were in pass-through mode, as visionOS did not recognize that an iPhone was sitting in front of the glasses—unlike Apple keyboards, for example, which were displayed automatically. This is now better with visionOS 26: Vision Pro now recognizes iPhones and also helps to unlock the devices.
iPhone in full immersion
Who uses the full immersion—with Apple's own environments, aka—can now also operate an Apple phone that is in your hand. The device appears within the immersion together with your fingers. Unlocking a Face ID device—as all current iPhones can do these days—is simply possible with the usual swipe up gesture, as long as the iPhone and Vision Pro use the same iCloud access.

It initially remained unclear how apps that use Face ID would behave. With Apple's iPhone mirroring function for macOS, which takes a similar approach to the iPhone integration in visionOS (but is still not available in the EU), not all apps can be unlocked biometrically. Some use the Mac's fingerprint sensor, but by no means all. On the Vision Pro, Apple's Optic ID method, which uses the headset's integrated eye tracking, could be used for this purpose.
Quick access to the cell phone
With the improved iPhone integration, Apple's headset can be worn for longer without having to take it off. Previously, you always had to leave immersion to see your cell phone. The need to enter a PIN code also made it difficult to use, which is why people were reluctant to reach for their smartphone, although it is still often required, even if you have the Vision Pro on your head.
visionOS 26 follows Apple's usual course of continuous improvement. The new operating system for the Vision Pro also brings new spatial widgets in the room, prettier persona avatars, and eye scrolling. However, the Vision Pro remains a very expensive investment, at a minimum of 4000 Euro.
