Leak: Does a new double strap make the Vision Pro more comfortable?
Apple's most popular headband by far for its headset unfortunately does not distribute the load well. The Vision Pro 2 could provide a remedy.

Apple is working on a—probably more comfortable—headband for its Vision Pro mixed reality headset. The rumor mill has already established that such a headband will be part of the second generation of the device, but now there is direct evidence from Apple. The company's backend code, which Macrumors was able to view, speaks of a so-called dual-knit band—a double solo band made of knitted fabric. So far there is the same—in addition to the very narrow dual-loop band—only as variants with one belt; now there could be two.
A cross between two existing products?
However, the idea is not new: 3D printing hobbyists have already connected two Solo Knit straps together via an adapter piece. The additional band from Foxconn subsidiary Belkin, simply called the headband for Vision Pro, also combines a Solo Knit band with an additional strap. Apple seems to have been inspired by this.

According to Macrumors, the new band could be a cross between the Dual Loop and the Solo Knit band, albeit probably wider. This would allow the Vision Pro to be supported not only on the back of the head but also on the surface of the head. This helps a lot with weight distribution, although the Solo-Knit strap looks more elegant. The component is very expensive individually: in the S, M, and L versions, you pay 115 euros each. In return, there is a rotary wheel that can be used to adjust the seat—to put it on and then close it again after putting it on.
New model on the way; real improvement uncertain
Buyers of the Vision Pro have so far suffered from its high weight (600 to 650 grams without an external battery) and price (at least 4000 euros). So far, it has only been sold by Apple itself at its list prices. Users praise the high-resolution screen and system speed but mostly criticize the long-term wearing comfort.
The Vision Pro 2, which is expected later this year, is expected to bring improvements, although no major weight reductions are anticipated. Instead, Apple could include a better headband. Another innovation should be a faster M4 or M5 chip; Apple currently supplies the headset with the outdated M2.
