Magic Keyboard for iPad Air with New Color
It doesn't always have to be an iPad Pro: If you own an Air, you can now equip it with a visually new keyboard and trackpad combination.

Apple has added a nice little detail for owners of a specific iPad model series this week: The Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air is no longer only available in white but also in black. The last iPad Air with M3 chip was already presented by Apple in March 2025 in a total of four colors—Space Gray, Blue, Purple, and “Starlight,” a shade of gold—but the original keyboard with trackpad was only available in one.

Apple has now rectified this flaw, as a look at the Apple Online Store reveals. Both the 11-inch variant and the 13-inch version of the Magic Keyboard for the iPad Air now come in two colors. Apple simply calls them “white” and “black.” Unfortunately, the steep pricing remains unchanged: the M3 version of the keyboard cover costs 329 euros for the 11-inch model, and the 13-inch version costs a hefty 349 euros. Incidentally, this is significantly more than one pays for the US version—albeit without sales tax: the 11-inch version costs 269 US dollars there, the 13-inch version 319 dollars.

Unfortunately, Apple has always pursued high pricing for the Magic Keyboard for the iPad. Given the cost of the tablet itself, this seems excessive. For example, you can already purchase the iPad Air M3 with—admittedly meager—128 GB of storage from the manufacturer for 649 euros (11 inches), meaning you would have to pay more than half again just for the keyboard and trackpad. Prices also remain stable for a long time. Anyone who buys their Magic Keyboard later—i.e., for already older models—doesn't get much of a discount in retail either.
No relief for the entry-level model
Currently, Apple sells three variants of its keyboard with trackpad. All are called Magic Keyboard. For the iPad Pro (M4 and M5), the 11-inch version starts at 349 euros. Users of the entry-level iPad are not spared either: the Magic Keyboard Folio, which also combines keyboard and trackpad but requires a fold-out stand to avoid falling over, is listed at 299 Euros.
The Folio is compatible with the iPad 10th and 11th generation (the latter Apple also calls “iPad A16”). Apple sells the iPad 11 starting at 379 euros with 128 GB, so here too, the surcharge for the keyboard with trackpad is considerable.
