Apple has fully uploaded a two-day event for developers focused on the Vision Pro to YouTube. In over ten hours of sessions and presentations (Part 1, Part 2), the focus is on using visionOS 26 to tell “immersive and interactive stories.” The company demonstrates, among other things, how to work with Apple Immersive Video, what is needed to film such productions, and how to develop corresponding apps that utilize the technology. There are also sessions on other Vision Pro topics such as Apple Spatial Audio, production workflows for immersive content, using SharePlay, spatial personas, and more.

For the two days, Apple invited attendees to its Developer Center, located on the Apple Park campus in Cupertino. At the event, the company attempted to generate interest in the new variant of its Vision Pro headset, which was released last week in an M5 variant. The new hardware promises, among other things, improved AI performance in the creation of spatial photos and personas, and according to Apple, can render up to 10 percent more pixels, which should lead to clearer images but is hardly noticeable in practice.

The second version of the headset, now available from 3700 euros, also comes with a new headband, the Dual Band, made of knitted fabric. It is intended to better distribute the slightly increased weight of the Vision Pro on the head. However, the headband is not only available for the Vision Pro M5 but also for owners of the previous version for 115 euros, although it will only be available from November.

Apple is currently having difficulty retaining developers for visionOS. The reason is the still low adoption rate of the devices. Consequently, there are sometimes long dry spells in the visionOS App Store for app updates, and new programs are only hesitantly arriving on the platform.

Apple is now trying to help with personal support; for example, the Developer Center event included “one-on One” consultation sessions for visionOS developers, a “Community Mixer,” and other events to foster a positive atmosphere. In the business sector, the Vision Pro is already performing better; devices are being used for sales promotions in US hardware stores, among other things, or for internal product development at car manufacturers and other companies.
