Apple's CFO has made suggestions about the rest of the current Mac pipeline. The company has only launched the MacBook Pro M5 this fall so far, but no other new computers. Observers have therefore wondered whether further notebook or desktop machines are expected in November or December. At an analyst call regarding the company's latest quarterly results last week, Chief Financial Officer Kevan Parekh has now commented on this.

While the Mac business grew in the September quarter (from 7.7 to 8.7 billion US dollars), the Apple CFO warned that the current quarter is still uncertain. “We expect a very difficult comparison against the M4 launch of the MacBook Pro, Mac Mini, and iMac in the previous year's quarter,” said Parekh. In practice, this means that new M5 machines in these areas—i.e., MacBook Pro with M5 Pro and M5 Max, Mac mini M5, and iMac M5—are unlikely to be expected, as otherwise such a comparison would be possible.

This means that the next wave of Apple computers is not expected before spring. At most, it is conceivable that Apple will launch a Mac Pro with M5 Ultra, but the probability is low, as a Max chip is usually always made available before the Ultra. Alternatively, it could also be a Mac Pro M4 Ultra, although this is also still missing. So far, only the M3 Ultra in the Mac Studio is available.

There has been no news for a long time about a long-awaited new portable entry-level Mac that would be based on the MacBook with 12 inches and Intel chip. A MacBook Air M5 is also more likely to appear in the coming spring; the last variant with the M4 was released in March 2025.

Bloomberg Apple journalist Mark Gurman had also predicted new Macs for spring 2026 in his newsletter over the weekend. He also did not mention the entry-level MacBook, but instead MacBook Pro models with M6 Max and M6 Pro, which are expected to be released by the end of the year with a thinner chassis, possibly with touchscreens and OLED displays for the first time.
