According to Belkin, both the “Auto-Tracking Stand Pro” (MMA008) and the “BoostCharge USB-C PD Power Bank 20K” (BPB002) are affected by the recall. The recall also impacts the PB0003 model of the power bank, which Belkin states is not offered in Germany. The manufacturer offers a full refund or a credit of the full purchase price plus 20 percent towards the purchase of a product from the Belkin website upon presentation of a valid proof of purchase or the serial number.

As Belkin writes in its Recall notice, the lithium-ion battery can lead to overheating of the product's cells due to a manufacturing defect. This could pose a fire hazard to consumers, it states. The manufacturer explicitly advises against further use of the two products.

In addition to the power bank, Belkin is also recalling the "Auto-Tracking Stand Pro".

Furthermore, they should be disconnected from the power supply or other devices, and Belkin should be contacted for further instructions. Belkin also advises storing models with the model numbers “BPB002” and “MMA008” in “a safe, dry place” and keeping them away from “flammable objects or other items that could damage the power bank.”

According to Belkin, customers can determine if their device is affected by the recall by looking for the model number on the back or side of the product. If the Belkin product has the model number “MMA008” or “BPB002,” owners should find the serial number and/or proof of purchase and fill out the recall form. According to the manufacturer, the serial number is located on the product label on the back or bottom of the product.

The power bank and the auto-tracking stand must not be disposed of in household waste under any circumstances. Affected individuals must hand them in at facilities that accept lithium batteries, such as recycling centers or retailers that sell batteries.

This is not the first recall of a Belkin product due to fire hazard; most recently, the manufacturer recalled the Belkin BoostCharge Pro BPD005 charger for iPhones and the Apple Watch in October 2024 due to “significant heat generation.”
