AirTag slot from Belkin for the wallet
If you want to track your wallet with "Where is?", you have a few options. Belkin has a new one on offer, but it is only recommended in certain circumstances.
Apple's AirTags are now everywhere: the Bluetooth and ultra-wideband trackers are comparatively inexpensive, compact, durable and locate their position almost anywhere as long as there is an Apple device nearby. However, the candy-like devices are unsuitable for one particular application: They are difficult to fit in a wallet. Some users therefore put them in the coin pocket, where AirTags are somewhat bulky. The Foxconn subsidiary Belkin, known for its Apple accessories, has therefore now added a slide-in card to its range.
Flexible in the wallet
The "Secure Wallet Insert for AirTag" is very simple: It is a card-shaped plastic block in which space has been left on the left-hand side for the insertion of an AirTag. The material is kept as flat as possible (6 mm thick) and designed "to fit into the slimmest of wallets". The polyurethane-based thermoplastic used is also flexible. The idea is not fundamentally new: Nomad already had a similar AirTag wallet cover on offer years ago. The difference, however, is that it is somewhat thicker and less flexible.

Belkin would like to charge 10 US dollars plus shipping for its Secure Wallet Insert for AirTag. A two-pack costs 15 dollars. The case is not yet available in the German Belkin online store, but this should change in the coming weeks. The weight is five grams. According to the manufacturer, the base material is made from recycled plastic.
Alternatives available
When the Nomad AirTag cover for wallets first appeared, there were no alternatives: Back then, you had to integrate an AirTag in this way if you didn't want to put it loose in your wallet. However, there are now very slim, credit card-shaped "Where is?" trackers from various providers. The first was Chipolo, which launched its own solution on the market in 2022 with the Card Spot. However, this device has the disadvantage that the integrated battery cannot be replaced (or recharged).
Modern versions of these "Where is?" cards, which even have a Qi charging function, are the better solution. And if you like it cheap, you can also print out such a card; platforms such as Thingiverse offer some clever variants for your home 3D printer.
