Apple's Dynamic Power Adapter in More Regions – When Will the EU Version Arrive?
After the USA, Canada, and other countries, Apple's 40W Dynamic Power Adapter is now reaching more countries. Will there be an EU variant?

Compact power adapter, yet up to 60 watts in burst mode: Apple is now selling its so-called Dynamic Power Adapter in more regions worldwide. The device, actually equipped with 40 watts of power, is as small as the previous 20-watt model, thus saving space in bags or backpacks, especially for mobile use. However, a version with a Euro plug is still not offered. Whether it will come remains unclear; Apple has not yet commented on it.
Three Plugs with a Flap
While the current version is offered for the USA, Canada, Japan, and Mexico, as well as for China, Taiwan, and the Philippines—with a foldable plug area—the new variant now comes with the so-called Type-G plug. This is known from Great Britain, but Apple also sells it for Ireland, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Malaysia, and Singapore. What's useful about the power adapter equipped with three plugs is that it can be folded in—Type-G plugs usually take up a lot of space.

It's not exactly cheap: in the USA, the power adapter costs 39 US dollars; in Great Britain, now 39 British pounds. In Ireland, again, 45 euros are charged. It's possible that Apple simply cannot implement the folding design for Euro plugs. So far, the company has no such model in its product range. However, Apple's standard Type-C connector is also not foldable, which makes the new model special.
Pocket Size and Combination with iPhone 17
Apple emphasizes that with the Dynamic Power Adapter, you benefit from “advantages that chargers with higher wattage also offer.” This is now also possible “in pocket size.” An iPhone 17 should reach up to 50 percent charge in 20 minutes with the power adapter, while an iPhone Air reaches 50 percent in 30 minutes, according to the manufacturer. However, the tests were conducted with pre-production devices.
In the USA, the new power adapter was launched in September along with the new iPhone models. So it took two months for the Type-G variant. This is currently only available in the aforementioned markets, so it is not possible to order from Germany in the Irish Apple Online Store.
