Parallels has released version 21.0 of its RAS (Remote Application Server) remote desktop software. It allows companies to deploy their applications and desktops across on-premises, cloud, and multi-cloud environments.
New features include enhanced integration with Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) and multi-cloud platforms. The software now fully supports Windows Server 2025 as a Hyper-V provider, in both standalone and cluster configurations. The Parallels Client for Windows can now also use Microsoft's Windows app for AVD – a preparation for the discontinuation of the Remote Desktop App planned for 2026.
On the security front, Parallels has added several features: Integration of the Windows Credential Manager is intended to provide secure credential management. Multi-factor authentication now captures client IP addresses and passes them as RADIUS attributes for context-aware access control. Conditional RADIUS automation allows for rule-based, user-specific authentication. Furthermore, clipboard redirection can be controlled with fine granularity to precisely manage data sharing.
Updates for Admins, Updated Web Client
For IT administrators, version 21.0 offers a Cloud Cost Insight Dashboard that provides detailed insights into AVD usage and aims to help optimize cloud spending. API and PowerShell support have been expanded to simplify the automation of large deployments. Additionally, there are improvements in managing multiple domains, validating domain credentials during template creation, and the option to reassign orphaned hosts to host pools.

The updated web client is designed to offer improved browser performance. Policy-driven URL redirection automatically redirects users to new farms during migrations or maintenance. Mobile clients now offer the same options for redirecting local resources as desktop clients, including sound, clipboard, camera, and other peripherals. IGEL-managed endpoints support automatic login and automatic client startup upon booting.
Platform support now also includes macOS 26 and iOS 26 or iPadOS 26, as well as updated FSLogix components. Accessibility improvements in the web client and user portal comply with VPAT 2.5 guidelines and WCAG 2.2 Level AA conformance.
Parallels RAS 21.0 is available now. Customers can upgrade from older versions or try the software through a free trial. All changes can be found in the announcement of the new release.
