Endpoint Manager Tanium Comes to Apple Mobile Devices
Until now, the Tanium platform has primarily supported servers, desktops, and notebooks. The platform now also recognizes mobile endpoints – starting with Apple.

US company Tanium helps corporate customers manage their computer inventory; the endpoint management tool can check the security of systems running the client, autonomously supply them with updates, and determine their current status. Until now, the platform was only available for servers, desktops, and laptops running Windows, Linux, and macOS, but not for mobile devices. As the company announced on Tuesday, this is now changing: Tanium can now also manage iPhones and iPads, as well as the Apple headset Vision Pro. The platform uses Apple's MDM tools for connectivity. If they wish, admins can use this method as an alternative to the Tanium client for macOS, which has been available for a long time.
iPhone and iPad as a normal endpoint
The mobile device support is integrated directly into Tanium's platform, so iPhones & Co. appear in the existing dashboards. The goal is to no longer have to manage Apple devices with separate tools, but with the system that also manages Windows, Linux, and cloud endpoints. This is intended to avoid “blind spots,” as well as unreliable data and “tool sprawl,” meaning an overly complex management landscape.

In Tanium, Apple's typical management tools such as configuration profiles, provisioning, and automatic updates will be integrated in the future. Numerous devices can be managed simultaneously. iPhones and iPads can thus be managed “just as reliably as any other endpoint,” according to Tanium, “with the same depth and reliability.” The platform also provides lifecycle management for iPhones and iPads can lock, erase, and restart devices. Other solutions can also do all of this, but companies that already use Tanium will no longer have to switch platforms. Apple devices can also be integrated into the ServiceNow CMDB via Tanium.
AI Products and Operational Technology
Tanium also introduced new AI products on Tuesday. Tanium Ask is an “Agentic AI Experience” that allows admins to query their dashboard and issue commands in natural language.
Additionally, there is an AI agent for ServiceNow. In addition to iOS and iPadOS, endpoint management will also extend to OT (operational technology, i.e., industrial IT) devices in the future. Android will follow later.
