Although the CES 2026 doesn't open its doors until January 6th, LG Electronics has already revealed that it will be launching its premium monitor series "UltraGear evo" with three gaming models in Las Vegas.
The South Korean manufacturer will present the 52-inch G9 (52G930B) as its top model, which it claims is the world's largest 5K2K gaming monitor with a screen diagonal of 132 centimeters. The display has a 12:9 panorama format, which maintains the vertical height of a conventional 42-inch 16:9 display and expands the field of view horizontally. This form factor offers a 33 percent larger workspace than a standard UHD monitor. A 1000R curvature envelops the user's peripheral vision, ensuring seamless immersion in the visual world. According to LG, the model achieves a refresh rate of 240 Hertz and is VESA Display HDR 600 certified.

AI as far as the eye can see
For those who prefer something smaller, the GX9 (39GX950B) will be available in the future, a 39-inch OLED display (approx. 99 cm diagonal) with 5K2K resolution and a 1500R curved 21:9 ultra-wide display that maintains the vertical height of a 32-inch screen. Its primary RGB tandem panel has a pixel density of 142 PPI and is VESA DisplayHDR True Black 500 certified, allowing the monitor to deliver detailed highlights and deep blacks even in the darkest scenes.
According to LG, however, the highlight of the model is its various AI solutions. Content is to be analyzed and upscaled before display. LG boldly claims that the monitor delivers "breathtaking 5K-class sharpness without the need for GPU upgrades." Tests will have to show whether this is true. And the AI use goes even further: with "AI Scene Optimization" and "AI Sound," the monitor is supposed to further improve image and audio performance.
Another interesting feature is a "Dual Mode" function for different gaming genres: it is intended to allow seamless switching between 165 Hz at 5K2K resolution and 330 Hz at WFHD (Wide Full-HD with 2560 x 1080 pixels). LG specifies the response time (Grey-to-Grey, GtG) as 0.03 ms (GtG).
Anti-Aura
Finally, LG will also be bringing a 27-inch model (approx. 69 cm diagonal) called the GM9 (27GM950B), which it claims is the world's first MiniLED monitor with 5K resolution. A special feature of this device is an advanced MiniLED technology that significantly reduces so-called blooming, where bright objects on a dark background are surrounded by an aura.
The manufacturer promises that 2,304 local dimming zones in combination with a so-called "Zero Optical Distance" technology, which minimizes the distance between the panel and the LEDs, enable extremely high luminance and improved contrast accuracy. Like the 39-inch GX9 model, the 27GM950B also features integrated AI technology for 5K AI upscaling, AI scene optimization, and AI sound.
The 27-inch model also offers dual-mode operation, allowing users to switch between 165 Hz at 5K resolution and 330 Hz at QHD (Quad High Definition, 2560 x 1440 pixels), paired with a fast response time of 1 ms (GtG). The display is VESA DisplayHDR 1000 certified and, according to the manufacturer, delivers a peak brightness of up to 1,250 nits. LG has not yet announced prices for any of the models. (nij)
