D-Ticket App finally with Apple Wallet Support – if you know where
Since 2023, users of HanseCom's D-Ticket App have been hoping for Apple Wallet support. Now it's here – after a bit of searching.
HanseCom's D-Ticket App: Useful for quickly getting the Deutschlandticket – and now finally a bit more useful on the iPhone.

Good news for the new year: Without informing users in the release notes of its app, the transport software specialist HanseCom has implemented support for Apple Wallet on the iPhone in its D-Ticket app. The wish to integrate this has existed for a good three years. The company could not provide technical reasons why it didn't work for so long. "Soon conveniently stored in Apple Wallet" the developer had already announced in spring 2023.
Email invoice or new order
Now the Wallet support is here – how long it has been implemented could initially be checked (it is conceivable that it already happened in autumn), as it can be easily overlooked. Apple Wallet support only appears directly visible to users in two places: when purchasing a new Deutschlandticket (then direct information is provided) and in the email invoices, where there is a link to add the card (as well for Google Wallet). Since the latter does not land on all users' phones but on Macs or PCs, it is easily overlooked or can only be transferred to the phone with difficulty.

According to the D-Ticket app FAQ, there is another way: You have to go deep into the settings menu to the "My Contracts" section and search there (see screenshot). Where you won't find it, however, is on the ticket itself – only the QR code appears there, but no link to store it in the Wallet. This user interface decision likely led to many users not yet noticing the new feature.
Not all transport companies – but ultimately it doesn't matter
Unfortunately, the D-Ticket app does not support all transport companies for Wallet usage – although for the customer it ultimately doesn't matter which one they choose, as the ticket is valid nationwide. "You can currently use the Wallet function if you are registered with one of the following transport companies: Bahnen der Stadt Mohnheim (BSM), Duisburger Verkehrsgesellschaft (DVG), Hagener Straßenbahn (HST), moBiel, Mecklenburg-Vorpommersche-Verkehrsgesellschaft (MVVG), Neubrandenburger Stadtwerke (neu.sw), NEW mobil Mönchengladbach, Ruhrbahn Mülheim, Ruhrbahn Essen, Stadtbus Dormagen (SDG), Städtische Nahverkehrsgesellschaft (SNG) Suhl/Zella-Mehlis, Stadtwerke Neuss, Stadtwerke Solingen, Verkehrsverbund Berlin Brandenburg (VBB), VGV Velbert, Verkehrsgesellschaft Ludwigslust-Parchim (VLP), Verkehrsverbund Vogtland (VVV), Verkehrsunternehmen Wartburgmobil (VUW), Wuppertaler Stadtwerke (WSW), ZVON Oberlausitz-Niederschlesien," it says. Confusingly, in a quick test at the Mac & i editorial office, it also worked with OVG Oberhavel Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH.
Nice: The Wallet ticket updates automatically after being added. "Once you have loaded the ticket into your Wallet, it will update automatically as long as your subscription is active." The D-Ticket app is useful if you need a Deutschlandticket quickly: It allows the use of credit cards and PayPal accounts and also sells the current ticket within the current month – so you are not forced into advance sales.
