The accessory specialist Twelve South has introduced a new charging solution that is designed to integrate well into everyday life. Is it more than just hip?

Twelve South is one of the most active providers of accessory products for Apple customers. The company became known for its MacBook stands, book-like cases, or adapters for in-flight entertainment systems, as well as the first “Find My”-capable power supplies. Now the company is launching a new inductive charging solution for iPhones and the like, which also serves as a storage surface for small items and offers an additional wired charging option.
Small items and more
The device, called Valet, does not yet have its own website. It is likely to be one of the more elegant power stations: a rounded aluminum frame meets a storage surface covered with nappa leather. On the side, there is an elevated charging area compatible with MagSafe and Qi2. This allows you to place items like keys, wallets, or glasses next to it without them entering the induction area.

The charging surface also accommodates Qi-compatible smartphones (then without magnetic adhesion); they can be as large as an iPhone 17 Pro Max. A power adapter is included; it is attached to a braided cable that was centrally located at the back. Underneath the storage surface or its side, there is a second USB-C port (maximum 15 watts), which can be used to charge a second device.
Exchangeable leather surface
Valet is delivered in black and gray and will be available in US retail from January 15th; the European market should follow in a few weeks. Information on Qi2 charging performance has not yet been provided. The leather surface is exchangeable and held in place magnetically. It is therefore conceivable that another charging surface, for example, for AirPods, will be added in the future. Twelve South wants to charge $180 for the Valet – it's not cheap.
Inductive multi-chargers have been on the market for a long time. For example, a model from Zens can power up to four smartphones simultaneously, but not yet with Qi2. There is also no space for other devices here. The price is 180 euros.
