Logitech forgets certificate: Configuration app Options+ for macOS fails
There has long been criticism of Logitech's overloaded Mac app for mice, keyboards, and more. Now Options+ has briefly deactivated itself.

Since Logitech switched to the new app Options+ for managing its peripherals, there has been criticism: it is overloaded, demands far too many unnecessary system permissions, includes unnecessary AI features, and on top of that, it also displays advertisements for the provider's products. Furthermore, it is considered comparatively unstable. Now another complex problem has been added: the app could no longer be started because the manufacturer had failed to issue necessary certificates in time. This is reported by affected users – and now by Logitech itself.
Options+ and G HUB need new installer
According to the information, not only Options+ under macOS is impacted but also the configuration application G HUB, which is intended for gamers. “Logitech Options+ and G HUB are currently not working on macOS because the certificate required to run the apps has expired. We are working on a solution and expect it to be available soon,” it states laconically. “Thank you for your patience as we resolve [the issue].”

The issue cannot be solved on the server side – apparently it concerns Logitech's developer certificate, without which apps are not allowed to start under macOS. The company is now preparing “a new installer that resolves the issue,” according to Logitech. They want to provide this “as soon as possible,” but no timeline has been given. All settings, profiles, and customizations should be preserved during the update. Confusingly: Logitech does not want to increase the version number. “[This] will remain the same,” the company writes. Only macOS is affected, not Windows.

Logitech users say Logitech reacted too late
Affected users report that the missing Options+ hindered their daily Mac routine. “I lost a large part of my workday because I thought I had made a mistake myself or something was wrong with my computer,” writes one affected user on Reddit. It was also problematic that Logitech only reacted many hours later, so users didn't know what was going on.
Options+ is used to manage various Logitech products. For example, if you want to fully use a company mouse under macOS, you are forced to use it by default – for example, to assign buttons or to display additional menus. When installing, the app requests, among other things, accessibility access (to control the Mac) and access to keyboard input (even when using a mouse). Several extensions are installed, and uninstallation is quite delicate and involves many steps (not all of which are listed on the support website). Alternatively, there is also an offline version of the app. This is much more sensible than the standard version, which also requires internet access.
