What's next for iOS? After Apple's head of software design (and Liquid Glass manager) Alan Dye moved to Meta, many users are asking. Apple has already rolled back some annoying innovations with the latest iOS 26 versions. There is also a rumor about iOS 27 that it should primarily serve stability and system maintenance. In the context of various leaks, for which Apple itself is responsible, further details have emerged in recent weeks. An overview.
Health app renovated
In addition to an internal iOS 26 preview version that ended up outside Apple via a prototype device, Apple accidentally released a kernel debug kit. Furthermore, other internal software is said to have leaked. The information about the upcoming iOS versions comes from the iOS 26 preview version. The build, intended only for Apple's purposes, contained various details that are deleted in betas intended for the public and developers, including so-called feature flags, as the US edition of Macworld wrote, which apparently had access.
The useful thing about feature flags: They show functions that are not yet officially available but are planned – often even together with the version they are supposed to come with. From the leaked build, which likely dates from spring 2025, it can be deduced, among other things, that Apple is working on a revised Health app. This is currently considered overloaded, should enable simplified manual data entry in the future, and tidy up the categories. Apple also seems to be preparing for a new payment service called Health+, which also includes AI features for data analysis.

Sports, Photos, Siri
Freeform will receive folders for the first time in a future iOS 26 version; the iCloud Keychain will recognize credit cards in third-party apps; and for Apple TV, Apple is possibly planning a pure sports offering. For iOS 27, Apple plans better photo collections in the Photos app, plus simplified pairing for AirPods.
With iOS 28, Apple is apparently planning new metrics for sleep tracking, and it seems intended that the Health app will jump to the Mac for the first time (with macOS 28). Finally, there are indications of the rollout of improved Siri as part of iOS 26 – presumably with iOS 26.4.
