iPhone 18, 18 Pro and Fold: Analyst reveals technical details
The well-known Apple observer Jeff Pu has learned information about the hardware of the three new iPhones expected to be released in the fall.

It will still be a while until September, but numerous details about Apple's main iPhone collection this year have already leaked. Some leaks come from Apple itself, others from the supply chain. The latter is also the source of the well-known analyst Jeff Pu from GF Securities in Hong Kong. His latest note to investors contains a table with all sorts of hardware features. How realistic it actually is remains unclear, as usual.
iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max
Like other market observers, Pu expects only three models in the fall. This year, an entry-level iPhone called 17e would likely be added, but it is expected to be released in the spring. The devices in September are therefore the iPhone 18 Pro, the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and Apple's first foldable, currently known in the scene as the iPhone Fold, but it could also be called something completely different. The Pro and Pro Max will have 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays, the new A20 Pro chip in a TSMC N2 process, and more efficient WMCM packaging, promising space savings.

Apple is reportedly using 12 GB of LPDDR5 RAM, and the selfie cameras will have 18 megapixels with 6P optics. According to Pu, the main cameras will feature three 48-megapixel sensors – one 7P VA, one periscope (telephoto), and one 6P. Face ID will remain with a reduced Dynamic Island, and Apple will reportedly use aluminum again for both models. The modem chip is said to be the new C2, manufactured by Apple itself.
iPhone Fold made of aluminum plus titanium
Pu's views on the iPhone Fold are similar to those on the 18 Pro models. The processor, storage, and modem (C2) are the same, and the display is said to be 7.8 inches when unfolded. The outer display is reportedly only 5.3 inches – which corresponds to the already rumored “Pass” look. The iPhone Fold is said to not have Face ID facial recognition; instead, Touch ID is expected to be revived, as seen in the iPad mini (integrated into the Sleep/Wake button).
The casing is made of titanium plus aluminum – it will be interesting to see how this affects heat dissipation. Apple switched back to aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro and 17 Pro Max after the 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max became quite warm during high-performance applications, as titanium dissipates heat less effectively. For cameras, Pu expects the iPhone Fold to have two 18-megapixel selfie sensors (folded and unfolded) and two 48-megapixel external cameras, each with 6P and 7P optics. Pu believes that Apple can deliver around 250 million devices with the 2026 collection, which would be an increase of two percent, while the overall market is expected to shrink by four percent.
