The developers of La Suite Docs have released version 4.5.0 of their open-source collaboration platform. The update expands the import options, integrates new services, and fixes a security vulnerability in a used library.

Among the main new features is a simplified import function for DOCX and Markdown files. Users will be able to transfer documents from Microsoft Word and other sources to the platform much more easily in the future. In addition, there is a configurable Waffle integration in the frontend and a silent login function that enables authentication without explicit user interaction.

The developers have also improved accessibility: the emoji picker receives better focus management, and the opening of subdocuments has been revised. Email templates can now be designed more flexibly with a new field for button labels. A new environment variable DJANGO_EMAIL_URL_APP expands the configuration options. Details can be found in the Release Notes on GitHub.

An important part of the update is the fix for a security vulnerability in the jaraco.context library, which was identified by Trivy scans. The developers do not provide details about the vulnerability or its severity in the changelog.

Other fixed bugs include export problems with NaN columns, incorrect display of favorites for subordinate documents, and problems closing the emoji picker in the tree view. End-to-end tests for various browsers also now work reliably again.

La Suite Docs is being developed in collaboration between the French Interministerial Directorate for Digital Affairs (DINUM) and the German Center for Digital Sovereignty (ZenDiS). The platform sees itself as a European alternative to proprietary services such as Notion or Google Docs and places particular emphasis on data protection and self-hosting. The software is available under the free MIT license, although some advanced functions such as PDF export rely on GPL-licensed components.

La Suite also includes Visio. With this video conferencing software, France aims to replace Microsoft Teams and Zoom in government agencies.
