Apple flips: After the foldable, Apple could bring a flip iPhone
According to a report, Apple is considering a flip model after its first foldable iPhone – and would thus follow Samsung & Co.

The standard form factors for foldables are a tablet-like design when unfolded – and flip devices in the style of earlier mobile phones like the Motorola Razr. While it has long been known that Apple is planning the former variant and will likely launch it in September, flip or clamshell models have not seemed to be an issue for the company until now. According to a Bloomberg report from Sunday, that is likely to change: According to the report, a smaller foldable iPhone in the style of the Galaxy Z Flip and Co. is planned.
Still in development
The project is currently still in an early stage. In Apple's labs, they are reportedly working on a square clamshell look for the device when closed. However, whether it will be launched is not guaranteed. Apple hopes, however, that the first foldable will perform so well that customers will develop a demand for the category.

However, this has not really worked out with the particularly thin iPhone Air, which was released in September 2025. The foldable market itself is still considered a niche, even though Samsung, for example, has been involved for many years; the first Galaxy Fold was released as early as 2019. In China (and now also at Samsung), they are already much further ahead, having long had foldables with three folds on the market.
Larger foldable, information on new MacBook Pro models
According to Bloomberg, it is also possible that Apple will later work on a larger, book-like foldable – currently a relatively small one with a 5.5-inch external display is planned. Another project, a kind of giant iPad, is reportedly encountering internal implementation difficulties at Apple. At least: According to another leak from China, Apple's first foldable is said to feature the largest iPhone battery ever – with over 5,500 mAh.
Bloomberg also provided further details on new Apple products. For example, the long-awaited MacBook Pro models with M5 Pro and M5 Max were expected to be released with macOS 26.3, which is likely to come out in the coming weeks. An event in Los Angeles, which took place in January for “Creators,” was only used by the company to bring its new, controversial subscription package Creator Studio to the creative audience. This is shown by recently published videos on YouTube.
