iTunes wishlist: Apple is now completely deleting the feature
iTunes no longer really exists, but Apple migrated one feature to another app. The wishlist for movies and series is now disappearing completely.

Apple has warned users that a long-available feature will soon be completely shut down. The so-called iTunes wishlist dates back to a time before Apple Music existed and allowed users to bookmark movies and series episodes they might want to purchase later. Apple had already removed the feature from tvOS devices in the winter of 2023 from the offering but had retained it on the iPhone, albeit somewhat hidden. However, the wishlist is now ending completely – and with it, if one is not careful, the existing data.
Move to Nowhere – but there is an email
It is unclear how many users actually still have the iTunes wishlist. However, there are users who are said to have maintained it quite religiously – also to compile a small database of movies and series they wanted to watch someday. In an email to affected users, Apple now warns that the data will soon be irretrievably deleted. “Your iTunes wishlist with movies and series will be removed soon and will no longer be accessible,” the company states.

On the iPhone, Apple had kept the iTunes Store app after discontinuing the iTunes movie offering; the wishlist was then also located there. With the change now announced, it will also be removed from there. Unfortunately, Apple does not provide a specific date for when this will happen, but it does offer a solution.
Wishlist and Watchlist mixed
A PDF document (!) is attached to the warning email, which contains all movies and series episodes known to the company that were on the iTunes wishlist. Opening the document allows the listed content to be clicked, leading to the TV app, which has replaced the iTunes store for movies and series. There, you can then click “+” to add the content to the Apple TV watchlist.
This watchlist thus also replaces the previous wishlist and can be found directly on the homepage under “Continue Watching.” This is not always ideal: while the wishlist only recorded content that you actively added, “Continue Watching,” alias “Continue Watching,” records all movies and series that you have ever watched. However, Apple apparently does not consider it necessary to continue the wishlist function in any other way. Fans of the feature can also simply save the PDF that Apple has attached to the email.
