Thanks to Foxconn: Mac mini soon (also) "made in Texas"
Following pressure from the Trump administration to manufacture more Apple products domestically, Mac mini is now coming to the USA. Foxconn will handle this.

Apple's attempts to have Macs manufactured in the USA have so far been only moderately successful. During the first Trump administration, the company manufactured the Mac Pro in Texas, and some AI servers were also supposed to roll off the production line in the iPhone maker's home country. However, there was no question of mass production; it was always about niche devices. That is set to change in the future:
20,000 square meters: Production for the USA
The company announced on Monday that it will begin manufacturing the Mac Mini in Houston later this year. Chief Operating Officer Sabih Khan told the Wall Street Journal that this is part of a $600 billion investment offensive that the company plans to spend in the USA by 2029. As usual, manufacturing will not be done by Apple itself but by the Taiwanese contract manufacturer Foxconn, which will also hire the employees. The devices “made in Texas” are primarily intended for the US market. The rest of the production, which also goes to Europe, will continue to come from Asia.

The facility in Houston consists of two main halls – one produces the AI servers for Apple's data centers, also built by Foxconn, and the other produces the Mac minis. Reportedly, an area of around 20,000 square meters is available. Apple is responding to demands from the second Trump administration to produce more in the USA – including the iPhone. However, according to all available information, the latter will not be implemented by Apple because it would be simply too expensive.
Attempts with Mac Pro likely failed
Apple initially tried to build the Mac Pro in a factory in Austin, which first opened in 2013. It is unclear whether this is still happening; according to the Wall Street Journal, production has at least significantly decreased. However, the workstation is likely selling poorly anyway: it is both outdated and extremely expensive.
The Mac mini, on the other hand, is a hit product for Apple: especially since the M4 and M4 Pro, released in 2024, the even smaller compact desktop has gained momentum. Recently, the devices were partly sold out due to the hype surrounding the AI agent system OpenClaw. Apple did not provide any information on the planned production numbers in Texas. Observers believe it will also be purely an final assembly plant; pre-production still mainly comes from Asia.
