Adobe Firefly: AI tool cuts videos
The Quick Cut tool in Adobe Firefly, controlled by text input, creates rough cuts of videos. This allows creatives to save time for fine-tuning.
Adobe is expanding its web app Firefly from a pure image and video generator to an editor.
Adobe is expanding its AI studio Firefly with the Quick Cut tool. It generates an initial rough cut from existing video material via text input. The beta version is available immediately.
The start page of the Adobe Firefly web app now includes an entry “Edit Video (Beta)”. Clicking on it opens an online video editor where video projects can be created in 1080p and 720p resolutions.

AI structures material based on description
The Quick Cut tool is intended to accelerate the time-consuming process of reviewing and structuring raw material. Instead of manually organizing video clips, users describe their video project as a prompt, for example, an interview, a product demonstration, or an event recap. Adobe recommends Quick Cut for short formats for social networks.
Users can also specify the aspect ratio via a dropdown menu in the prompt, determine the video length, and add a B-roll track if desired. The AI analyzes the material and generates an initial version of the video.
According to Adobe, the Quick Cut tool converts textual specifications directly into an editable timeline. In the editor, the rough cut can be modified and refined using classic video editing tools. It can then be downloaded as a video file. Exporting the project to Premiere Pro is not possible.
Adobe expands Firefly into an AI studio
The tool complements the Firefly offering, which originally only generated image and video content using generative AI, but did not edit or arrange it. Images can already be edited. With the online editor including Quick Cut, Adobe is taking another step towards expanding Firefly into an environment for AI applications within the Creative Cloud.
Availability
Quick Cut is available immediately in beta phase within the Firefly app. Interested parties can register on the web at firefly.adobe.com until March 16, 2026.
