With the Honor Magic V6, a new large foldable enters the stage at MWC 2026 in Barcelona. The folding smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer has a particularly strong battery and doesn't just withstand water.
Honor has been involved in the foldable sector for a comparatively long time; the first Magic folding smartphone came onto the market in early 2022. A lot has happened since then, and with the Magic V6, Honor is making enormous progress, especially with the battery.
At 6660 mAh, the battery is enormously powerful for such a thin foldable – the Magic V6 measures only 8.75 millimeters when folded without the camera. The predecessor still had 5820 mAh. It is a two-part dual-cell battery with silicon-carbon anodes. The silicon content is 25 percent. At MWC, Honor is even announcing the next generation of batteries, which, with 32 percent silicon and the same size, is said to have 7000 mAh.
The Magic V6 is protected against submersion up to one and a half meters deep, spray water, and dust according to IP68/IP69 – this is quite normal for a common smartphone, but still a long way off for a foldable. Water, for example, can also be tolerated by Samsung's Galaxy Z Fold 7, but Honor is the first manufacturer to succeed in protecting the folding smartphone against dust as well. Nothing should penetrate the housing where it could damage the sensitive display or the hinge. However, one must be careful with the folding screen, because if something is in the way when folding, the soft panel can quickly be damaged.

Speaking of the display: The Honor V6 has a 6.52-inch external display and a 7.95-inch internal display. Both are LTPO OLED panels, which means they can reduce the refresh rate down to 1 Hertz to save power. Both support a maximum of 120 Hertz. Honor promises up to 6000 cd/m² peak brightness. According to Honor's own statements, the fold has been reduced by 44 percent; in reality, the crease in the display is hardly visible or palpable.

The Magic V6 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, which brings a lot of power and can access 12 GB of RAM. The internal storage is 256 or 512 GB. To keep the processor's waste heat under control, Honor has equipped the foldable with a vapor chamber cooling system. The triple camera on the back consists, as usual, of a main camera, a triple telephoto, and an ultra-wide-angle lens.
Price and release date of the Honor Magic V6 still unclear
Honor has not yet revealed exactly when the sales will take place. However, it is expected to happen in the second quarter of this year. Honor has also not yet revealed the exact sales price, but it is likely to be in the range of its predecessor. The Honor Magic V5 was launched for 1999 euros.
Robot Phone only behind glass
The Honor Robot Phone with the novel pop-up camera, which the manufacturer announced months ago for MWC, can only be seen behind glass at MWC; touching and trying it out is not allowed. It remains questionable whether the Robot Phone with the AI-controlled camera module will actually come onto the market in this form.
