Previously, Motorola's Razr series consisted only of compact flip phones, but now a large foldable is being introduced. With the Razr Fold, Motorola is particularly emphasizing the camera.

The Razr Fold is thin, but not as uncompromisingly so as other foldables. When folded, the smartphone, available in white and black, measures just under a centimeter. The white variant has a silky back that feels pleasantly soft. The black model resembles a slightly coarser fabric. The Razr Fold weighs 249 grams and is protected against water according to IP49, although small dust particles can penetrate. The 6.6-inch pOLED display on the front resolves 2520 × 1080 pixels, reaches up to 6000 cd/m² according to the manufacturer, and is protected by a layer of Gorilla Glass Ceramic 3. The flexible inner display resolves 2484 × 2232 pixels and is said to reach up to 6200 cd/m² at its peak. Both screens support variable refresh rates up to 120 Hertz.

Motorola is equipping the Razr Fold with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Without the Elite suffix, the processor clocks at only 3.8 instead of 4.6 GHz, and the cache is also slightly smaller. Nevertheless, there should be more than enough performance. Depending on the model, 12 or 16 GByte RAM and 256 or 512 GByte internal storage are available. Motorola also offers a 1 TByte variant, but not in all regions.

The triple camera on the back of the Razr Fold consists of a main camera, a triple periscope telephoto lens, and an ultra-wide-angle lens. The main camera and telephoto lens use Sony Lytia sensors with a resolution of 50 megapixels. The ultra-wide-angle lens also resolves 50 megapixels; Motorola does not disclose the sensor manufacturer here. The inner selfie cam takes photos with 20 megapixels; the outer one achieves 32 megapixels.

A 6000 mAh battery, distributed across both halves of the smartphone, is intended to provide good endurance. The Motorola Razr Fold charges at up to 80 watts via cable and a maximum of 50 watts inductively. The two Dolby Atmos speakers were developed in collaboration with Bose.

On the large display, up to three apps can be placed side by side.

The more affordable Motorola Edge 70 Fusion inherits the main camera with the Lytia sensor from the Razr Fold. The camera is only flanked by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens; the smartphone does not have a telephoto lens. The Edge 70 Fusion is powered by a Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 from Qualcomm, a proven but no longer entirely up-to-date mid-range chip. The nearly 6.8-inch OLED display resolves slightly more than Full HD and is also said to reach over 6000 cd/m² at its peak – an exceptionally high value for a mid-range smartphone. Its battery has a capacity of 5200 mAh.

Motorola also offers a variant of the Edge 70 Fusion with the Power designation. This is technically largely identical to the normal version but has a 7000 mAh battery, making it slightly thicker at just under 8 millimeters.

Motorola is offering FIFA editions of the Razr Fold, the small Razr available since last year, and the Edge 70 Fusion just in time for the upcoming Football World Cup in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. These have gold shimmering World Cup and FIFA logos on the back, slightly different textures, and matching wallpapers, but are otherwise technically identical.

The Razr Fold costs 1999 Euros in the normal version; the FIFA Edition is a hefty 400 Euros pricier. The Edge 70 Fusion changes hands starting at 419 Euros, with the Edge 70 Fusion Power version costing an additional 20 Euros. For 499 Euros, you can get the smartphone in the FIFA Edition.
