Apple's next MacBook will presumably be called “MacBook Neo.” This is evident from an entry that Apple briefly had on its website on Tuesday evening – as part of a list of regulatory documents for the EU and UK region. The entry, which Macrumors first reported, quickly disappeared again. It linked to an EU Declaration of Conformity (copy on Scribd) describing a “Laptop Computer” with “MAC OS.” It is signed by a senior engineering manager who appears to work in London and, according to LinkedIn, has been with the company for 14 years.
Model Number of the MacBook Neo
A model number is also listed: A3404. Apple has never used the designation Neo before. It stands for something new, and that is precisely what the new MacBook is intended to be as an affordable entry-level computer.

The hardware is said to cost significantly less than 1000 US dollars and round off Apple's notebook offering at the lower end. Rumors to this effect have been circulating since last summer. The idea is apparently to revive the 12-inch MacBook, albeit slightly larger (12.9 instead of 12 inches) and designed as a budget computer. Reportedly, colorful versions are planned, including green, yellow, blue, and possibly pink.
More Hardware Details
In parallel with the Declaration of Conformity, including the name, which appeared in a list with the 2025 Macs just introduced, further hardware details also leaked. Apparently, there will be two USB-C ports plus MagSafe for charging, and the included cable might be in a matching color. Whether Apple will omit the power adapter in Europe is still unclear, but not unlikely.
Finally, the Neo is also said to support Wi-Fi 7 – but not through Apple's N1 chip but via a Mediatek component that also supplies Bluetooth. A budget iPhone chip is likely planned as the SoC, either the A18 Pro from the iPhone 16 Pro or the A19 Pro from the iPhone 17 Pro. Apple will likely unveil the device this afternoon, European time. The company has invited selected influencers and press representatives to an “Apple Experience” in London, New York, and Shanghai, which is taking place today. On Tuesday, the MacBook Pro M5 Max and M5 Pro, as well as the MacBook Air M5 and new displays, were presented, and on Monday, the iPad Air M4 and iPhone 17e. (bsc)
